View Full Version : Order of Deletes when Disk is full

I'm nearing the point where the disk is almost full -- which shows will be deleted first - the ones at the bottom of the list or the shows that have more than the allotted amount of episodes?

For example, we have Dora or some of the other kids' shows set to a keep at most 5 ... however, right now in the guide, there are 10 episodes...

When itcomes time to delete, will it first take those down to free up space or will it take the oldest show/movie?

Thanks

I think it will go First In, First Out, in other words, it will delete the oldest thing on the hard drive. Anyone care to confirm?

So, what's the point of setting Series Links to only record 5 if it'll keep 10+ in there?

Have you set any of them to KUID (keep until I delete)?

Those marked (KUID) do not count in those 5.

Nope. There are no keep until I deletes in those. Some of the other kids shows have them, but not the dora example I mentioned or a couple of the other ones.

So it has nothing to do with the Prioritizer?

1. Heroes
a. Ep 5
b. Ep 4
c. Ep 3
2. Grey's
a.
b.
c.
3. House
a.
b.
c. - (Delete)

Let's say you were out of space and one had to go. Letter (a.) is your newest one and (c.) is oldest. They were all recorded at the same time/day would it take out 3. c.? Even if 3. c. were recorded before 1. c. they would still remove 1. c. first? I would think the Prioritizer list should dictate removal before F.I.F.O.

I'm not sure. I know on older DTivo boxes, you will not end up with more than the defined number (unless they are also being recorded as suggestions). I don't think I've had any HR20 SLs get to 5/5 in the time that we've had ours.

I've not seen mine keep more that I have set up, without any set to keep. Could someone else in the house have set it to keep all?

Nope. I'm actually looking at the Dora grouping.. set to keep 5 - no KUID and there are 8 in the folder.

For Higglytown Heroes it is also set to 5, it has 1 KUID and there are 10 in there. (I would guess there would be 6 if the KUID don't count)

Could it be that there are other Dora's that were recorded 'ad hoc' - not as part of the Season Pass and so the HR20 only keeps 5 series link recordings, not 5 in the group? I'd imagine that could have happened.
