Any chance this will come to E* any time soon?

This is a popular question lately. :)
As you may know DirecTV carries Hartford/New Haven locals but Dish does not.
I have talked to WTIC / WTXX and they have not heard anything from Echostar in a long time. So it appears that Dish Network is not anywhere close to adding Hartford locals.
Which is strange since they have New Hampshire locals.
I think its all just a big political game, if Charlie liked Joe Leiberman (someone who I see and talk to from time to time) then Connecticut would already be up.
Dooooooo it doooooo it....DirectTV is calling you......
Seriously, I have subed too and have sold both. There really isn't any compelling reason to go dish if your in the Hartford/New Haven region.
I would like the Super Stations, and the extra movie channels that E* offers. I also like how you get to choose from more cities for distant networks. And the pricing on programmign and equipment is cheaper.

You may not get to choose any distant networks if your local stations don't allow you to. You don't get to just say "I want distant nets" and they give them to you. You have to apply to your locals for permission. The only distant net I was allowed to get was Fox and I have them from LA and NYC, so I have three Fox stations. That is plenty for me. YMMV. All ther others (ABC, CBS, & NBC) all said no. How can the pricing on equipment be cheaper than free? A new sub to D* can get a two-room basic setup for free through any number of sources. I'll give you supers. If it is more important than locals, they by all means go to E*. If locals are more important, you know what you need to do.
I am already approved for Fox and NBC and national PBS, ABC and CBS require permission and that shoudlt be a problem cause I get aboslutely NO signal where I am, they can come and test all they want.

If locals become available to you, you will no longer qualify for National PBS. The national channel is only available if the local is not available via DBS. NBC and Fox are a different story. The qualifications for distant ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox are completely unrelated to local availability via DBS.

I called E* and they said that is is planned, but they arent sure when they dont find out until a week in advance. They also told me that they have put up several DMA's in the past month my reply was "Gee, to bad I dont care about them because I cant get them."
TNGTony- are sure about that national PBS qualification? If I go to the Dish Network address broker and enter a white area address within the Seattle DMA (where locals are available) it says that the address qualifies for PBS. Is the Dish Network website wrong?

Little point to superstations these days if you have a Local WB and UPN, like we do. Sports isnt even a issue these days as the supers have lost almost all of them.
HBO comedy was nice to have at first, when they showed Mr. Show reruns, but they no longer did, and it was the last thing I kept a E* sub for.
If you really like the idea of Distant nets, look into Expressvu or Star Choice, it was the only way I watched American Network TV until D added our locals.. :)

Tony, I don't know if that's true or not. I have Indianapolis locals, and I still have channel 249, the national PBS. Anybody else in a similar situation?

From the PBS web site (http://www.pbs.org/whatson/dbs/mustcarry.html):
"Thank you for watching PBS. As a result of a law enacted by Congress (the Satellite Home Viewer Improvement Act of 1999), PBS service on DIRECTV and DISH Network will change for many viewers. As the satellite providers continue to roll out markets where they offer local channels, there will be a shift from the PBS National Satellite Service to the local public television stations.
If you are a DBS customer and live in one of the country's largest cities, you now may be able to watch your local PBS station(s) on DIRECTV and DISH Network as a part of their local channels package. If you are a DBS customer living outside the country's largest cities, please call DirecTV at 1-800-DirecTV or DISH Network at 1-800-333-DISH to sign-up for the PBS National Satellite Service.
To find out more information about PBS service through your satellite provider, please click one of the choices below:
DirecTV or Pegasus
DISH Network"
I don't make these things up. :-)

Thanks Scott for asking the local stations. I'm still hoping they'll come before my contract is up. Maybe you can put a bug in Charlie's ear and show him all the requests.
I haven't started making noises about this, but WETA doesn't seem to provide any programs in SAP. This means DVS programming is out. The national feed, when I had it, had all the SAP stuff enabled.
but as far as these locals in CT go, where would they put them? TP 1 and 3 look full to me, Berlington and others briefly moved to TP 4&6 (I think) over on E*8 but went back.
They could put Baltimore up, what else is around the DC market that would fit?
