I did a search and couldn't find anything about this or at least any answers. I've only had my HR20-700 for a few weeks and figured after I updated the firmware that the tearing in the guide would go away, but it hasn't. If I scroll up or down the guide breaks into 3 different sections. My H20-600 doesn't have a problem with this. Is the tearing in the guide just considered normal or did I get a defective receiver? Everything else is fine otherwise. Any help or advice or do I just have to get used to it? Thanks

I thinks everyone will tell you to just disable animations in the settings menu for the display. I sometimes joke about this still being an issue, but I do not know where they stand on a fix.

Not exactly sure what you mean by tearing...but I've had my HD20-700 since January and I just did the latest CE Saturday (0x19e), but had the national release prior to that.

I have smooth scrolling on in the preferences, and if I just do up or down in the guide, then the menu line stays in place...the top line (or bottom line) disappears and is replaced with a new line from the direction I'm going.

If I use Channel Up or Down, it scrolls a page smoothly...no issues

Your animation in the display menu might be disabled, enable it and you "should" see the "tearing" of the guide when you PG UP and PG DN

Thanks to sunsfan, I just found a way of making it less annoying. If I switch the preference on scrolling effects to off, then it looks fine. It doesn't fix the scrolling problem, but it does do a page by page motion now instead of scrolling. This is completely fine to me because the scrolling breaking up or as I call it tearing, looks absolutely horrible and I wouldn't think that this would occur in a $300 receiver. Maybe they'll fix it some day, but for now I'm happy. I got the answer I needed, so if any of the mods want to delete this thread, then I'm okay with it. I just didn't know what to do. I was thinking about exchanging it, but I won't now. Thanks
