View Full Version : I have Searching for Signal on 480&481 but I get Congrats on 498
Isn't that kind of contradictory? I'm searching for Signals on the channels that test the new sat, but 498 says is it being accessed from the new sat. Any ideas? FWIW, my signal on 103b isn't very good (50s-70s on about half and 0s on some tx's)

It probably means 498 comes from one of your stronger transponders and 480/481 come from weaker ones.
That would be my guess...

Do you have BBCs installed? The SFS should indicate a BBC issue and w/o BBCs you shouldn't get 498.

Yes, I have a BBC installed. I only have one cable ran to my DVR since I replaced a regular receiver and we're going to be moving next year and don't want to go to the trouble to run another line.

Do you have an extra BBC you can swap with the one you're using? Otherwise I would agree with paulman that perhaps 498 is from one of your stronger TPs

1) go to Menu/Help&Settings/Setup/Sat&Ant/View Signal Strength.
2) Select minus once to select satellite 103(b). You may have to change the tuner selection to your working tuner.
3) Write down the range of numbers (some will be n/a). These should be someplace between 70 & 90.
4) let us know what you saw. If you have substantially lower numbers than above, your dish needs alignment. Call DirecTV.
