Hello.
I would like to purchase hardware needed to install my DSS satellite dish for 4 receivers in my house. I already own the receivers (Sony) and have the house prewired for RG6 coaxial cable that goes from all the rooms to the basement. I had a builder do this wiring while the house was being built. I have a PVC pipe going from my attic to the basement, which is what I will use for the wire that connects to the dish.
I need to purchase 1) a dish (with HDTV capability), 2) the wiring for the dish to my basement, 3) plus all other hardware needed to complete the installation. Then I need to hire someone to install the dish and connect the wires.
Here is where I can use help:
I would like to save as much money as possible, but do not want to do the installation myself. So, I figured that I need to identify all the specific hardware (multi switch, etc.) I will need (to accommodate 4 receivers, etc.), including exact make and models, etc. This way I can go on line to shop for the best prices instead of buying it through the installer, who would charge me more. Can anyone please tell me exactly what I would need to buy including specific models? For example, I heard something about getting a specific kind of DSS dish with 3 L&B's (have no idea what this is). I have a friend who works for Sony, so if I can pick out a Sony dish, I might be able to save from his discount - assuming Sony has the type of dish I need.
Does anyone know I where can purchase these items for the best prices?
Once I have all of the hardware, I will call an Installer. I *think* all that I would need them to do is install the dish on the roof, run the wire from the dish to my basement through the PVC pipe, and then hook it up to the hardware (mutli switch? ,etc?). I *think* I can do the rest myself since all the connections to each room are already there.
Does anyone know a good/affordable installer in central/south New Jersey? It would be best if I can find an installer who does side jobs.
Thanks very much for reading this long message. Your time and feedback are greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!
Dave
