What kind of penalty is there is you cancel your service with Dish if you are under an agreement with them? And who gets the equipment? I paid for the 508 but everything else was given to me under the DHP. Thanks!

You will have to ship the receivers back and pay a $240 cancellation fee I believe. Sometimes its cheaper to pay for the rest of the programming period on the cheapest package or not much higher than paying the cancellation fee, depending on how much time is left for your contract. You might also have an agreement with your local retailer in which will also charge you a fee, so it may cost you a LOT more to not keep it for a year. I believe the retailer is on the hook for 3 months. You may want to contact him about it.

I would suggest contacting the retailer who installed it for you. You may not realize it but your actions may cause your local dealer to loose money.
Your local dealer is there to help you out and also is out to put food on the table for his family, if you cancel there is a chance that the dealer will be charged back making all of the work he did for you lost time and money.
Plus your dealer may be able to help you out to make you enjoy the service more. :)
Just read your DHP agreement.
Yes, you are subject to a $240 penalty plus the value of the eqmt if you don't return it.
And, yes, your retailer is on the hook for 90 days so he will be after you, too, if you DC within his charge-back period.

I'm not going to cancel I was just curious. But I am planning to switch when my contract is up unless they add my locals within the next 6-8 months. From what I am hearing my locals will not be added anytime soon.
