I need some Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and (wishful thinking) PBS HD. These channels get a lot of play in my house. Sesame Street and Barney would be great in HD. I can't help it if I have a simple mind and am entertained by these shows... :eek2:

In the mornings there is. When I first got my HDTV last year, I had basic cable because Comcrap forced it on me with my cable modem. PBS HD had several HD kids shows on in the mornings. My little guy really likes Barney and Elmo, and my older son loves his Nick and Cartoon Network. It makes it more tolerable for me if they are HD!

Although CN is fine the way it is.... for now...

When is the next HD rollout scheduled? I had read 1 October, but that may have been before the initial rollout delay. The first rollout 'unofficially' was supposed to include MSG HD and FSN NY HD, but they didn't make it today.

Looking forward to the RSN's being included in HD.

Enjoy this one before worrying about the next one ;)

I know that some of the rumored channels didn't make it to the rollout this week, but they had their reasons. Don't worry, they are all still coming.

Stuart, once all problems are cleared up, I would imagine they could turn on additional channels at any time, not necessarily in waves.

Why is Versus/Golf HD listed as one? Are they sharing something?

Check out Sprout (used to be PBS Kids) on 294. It has many of these shows nested into a longer show. Also, try an OTA. We picked up several channels for our two boys using the OTA.

There are only a few channels on this list that are rumored to be moving to the HD Xtra tier. Also, if anyone adds the HD Xtra tier to their programming package, they will continue to receive them if and when any changes are implemented.

It is not unreasonable to assume that everyone knows many of the new channels are premiums, is it?

D* isn't doing the sharing - Comcast (the owner) has combined them.

And forget about PBS HD - it's not happening. But I get PBS_HD over the air, and there's very little HD programming.... Nova, Farmers Almanac, Rick Steves, and not a much else here.

be happy, you got alot of new hd channels. everyone is a basher, sure i would like my 150 now. but lord, its nice to have more than 9. I am not going on the run. I am happy with directv. I still like my Tivo, but I am sticking in there. DirecTv has been the best at adding channels. hell they have more than anyone. So they get this down watch out and hold on to your seats.

So if somebody only has the Family Package, D* "only offers" 40 channels? Those premium channels are still offered and still count. There are people who do have the Premier Package.

I get them all. It's silly to try to not count premium channels. If it is a channel you can get if you're willing to pay for it then it should count.

In the net, if you don't subscribe to Showtime or Starz and you want to preserve your promised $9.99 HD access fee, you'll end up with "up to" 17 of the current 30 channels.

That page also lists MHD & MGMHD. I was on fence about whether or not I'd get the HD Extra pack or not before that, but I really do want MHD. I really liked what I saw during the free preview.

I also really like channels that were designed from the ground up with HD in mind. Some of these new "HD" channels we just got leave a little bit to be desired. I know they'll eventually catch up, but stretch-o-vision and playing replays of football games in SD that were originally in HD isn't very cool.

Come on now Harsh. If I don't subscribe to Showtime or Starz or any premiums I'll only end up with 90 of the "250" current SD channels.

Sighhhhhh.

I get them all and I will continue to get them all for only another $5. How much do you pay for HD access? :DHD Access through E* means OTA HD only and that's $6.99. DishHD is $20 which is a little less than 34% more ($20 versus $14.98?) for 70% more channels (in my case as I don't subscribe to SHO, TMC or Starz! which represent nine of the 30 channels).

For those who subscribe to everything, the cost per channel is about the same on both sides.

I note that BTN will likely move to the sports package later this year on E*.

+1. Further I understand that when the "100 channels by the end of the year" arrive that number includes the HD channels in NFL Sunday Ticket, and the other premium sports packages for baseball, NASCAR etc plus PPV HD. You will have a big D* bill to get ALL 100 of those HD channels, but they are not misrepresenting what they will provide.

I'll be right on that switch to Dish .. oh wait .. can't do it. I like my NFL ST which happens to have something like 6 HD channels on Sundays. That should count for something considering that's one of the big reasons a lot of people subscribe to DIRECTV period.

Also, many people will opt to get only the HD Access which is $9.99 .. depends on whether or not they want to get the channels in the HD Xtra pack. Some will and some won't. Sure, folks can complain about the price increase on those channels, I'm just not sure how this issue is a Dish Network vs. DIRECTV problem ..

Agreed. A misrepresentation would be if they count 60+ ABCs, NBCs, CBSs and FOXs. Of course no legit subscriber could get all of those 240ish channels. However, I'm sure that DIRECTV will count that as 4 HD channels which for the most part is true. There will of course be 25% or so of the country where these 4 channels will not be available.

Harsh, there are 30 channels available. Just because somebody doesn't subscribe to a particular channel doesn't mean it isn't available. Are you an accountant, trying to twist numbers? If people don't get those premium channels, then you say they only offer 14 channels. Okay, for all of the people who do not pay the HD Access fee, then D* offers no HD, correct? According to your logic, that is what you are saying.
