If you are a family package subscriber, as I am, and are grandfathered in to keep the ESPN, ESPN2, HD Theater, and TNTHD, as I am, you will have a choice. 1. Keep the above mentioned channels and stay grandfathered in (still uncertain for how long.) 2. Forfeit the grandfathering to receive the new HD channels (only 2 right now, SCIHD and TWCHD). I just spoke with 5 different CSRs who said the same thing, they cannot activate both the new HD tier and the grandfathered package.
Before everybody starts recommending upgrading to get all the new channels, I subscribe to the Family package for a reason, I do not need all those channels. The family package is sufficient with ESPN. I realize that I will eventually have to make a decision when they will no longer grandfather those channels in. I am just having a hard time accepting the fact that I will have to increase my bill by 40% just to keep what I have. That is a significant increase.
