I remember when I first signed up for HD a few years back, and there were only something like 5 or 6 channels, I never could quite fully justify spending the $9.99 per month for it....Regardless, I ponied up the $$$ just so that I could see more HD content then what I could get OTA...(which at that time wasn't much). But now, man does that $9.99 seem cheap for what we're getting and what we will be getting. It's a great day to be a Directv Subscriber!

I couldn't agree more...the HD boxes used to be $999 too, and now look how cheap they are getting.

I finally upgraded from the Family Pack to Plus HD DVR, since there's actually some decent HD content now (and more on the way).

Don’t talk too loudly about feeling that $10 is cheap. DirecTV will hear that and start charging $25 or something. I’m already close to a $100 bill from them. I don’t need it to be anymore.

I doubt they increase too much...if they do...i'll call them and "nicely" remind them that my local cable company (Cox) offers HD channels FREE when you subscribe to Digital Cable.

Very true.

Just a few years back, the old IRDs would go down to $800 ... $600, etc. I had to keep buying new ones to get the latest ATSC decoders so I could receive the free OTA HD ... and this was BEFORE HD-DVR's!

Many people don't seem to appreciate what a bargain a good HD-DVR is today.
