View Full Version : Is the HD Package being rolled into Premier?
I seem to remember seeing some messages on the board on this. I'm sure I've lost my mind.
Is the 9.99 HD Fee being rolled into the Premier level, so that everything is covered for the $99 price, or is it the $99 plus $9.99?
I'm at $75 for Total Choice Plus with HD and HBO. I can handle an additional $25, but I'm less inclined to do the extra $35 if HD is added on to Premiere. All the HD and DoD that I'm not getting by not having Showtime & Starz is killing me.

$99 plus $9.99. HD Access is not included with Premiere.

Bummer. That would be a deal breaker for me as well. I have 4 boxes, HD, DVR and with Premier that would be me at $130 or so a month.

If you can handle $25, here is the good news. For $21 more, you can get SHO and STARZ. No need to spend $25.

I totally agree with you. I figured up what it will cost me if I switched to the Premier package w/HD. I don't plan on switching until they have some other "HD" package.
from my perspective, you get all Cinemax movies on HBO eventually. Normally only a couple months late. If you care about the soft porns, you can get some relief from SHO and TMC also. I personally don't care about the sports package as most what I care are already available to me. I haven't been able to justify premier tier for myself.
I don't currently subscribe to STARZ. It's only $10 more for me. I only have to figure out how to sell it to my wife.

Click Here, its the HD DVR Plus page. Then change to premier. Looks like more HD than HD DVR Plus has in the future.

It USED to be that the DVR service was included in premier, but apparently that has changed over the past couple of months.

The Premier page says:
Add HD Access to your base programming package to enjoy these exciting HD channels.

I got 3 months free DVR service when I started getting Premier. Is that what happened to you. As far as I know the HD pack has never been part of Premier.

Seriously, why not have a "super Special" package that includes DVR, HD, and all the channels for $100-$110?

...If you care about the soft porns, you can get some relief from SHO and TMC also...Are we to assume that you chose the word "relief" in a merely innocent way?

My Wife is my stalling point as well. She thinks its crazy we pay $79 now. Imagine me coming in with the $130.

same package ,(almost as you) have what you have plus the HD package, plus starz, plus the protection plan,
just hope the HD package will cover all HD channels that come out at the same price as now.

It is crazy, considering all the extra entertainment you would get for just a few more dollars...;)

My DVR service was included in Premier--I still had to pay extra for HD Access. I thought maybe the OP was confusing the DVR service for HD Access.

$99 plus $9.99. HD Access is not included with Premiere.
That's what the HD FAQ at directv.com says. The FAQ still says that to get "the most" HD channels available, you only have to subscribe to Premier, plus HD access at $9.99. The FAQ clearly states that they will not charge more than the $9.99 HD access fee for the additional HD channels that they are adding.
Where the confusion comes in is that the facts in the HD FAQ don't match with the rumor that some of the channels now included in the HD Access package (and some of the new ones) will be placed in another HD package that will cost extra. There has been no conformation of this rumor yet, or no explanation why if it's true that the answers in the HD FAQ still contradict it.
