Well, the CSR's are going to be fun for a while.

I had the Starz problem many had so I called and got a serious of misinformed CSR's. Finally got one to pass me to support and removing the HD package and putting it back fixed my setup.

My parents, on the other hand, only channels that are totally new, like the Smithsonian Channel. If it was a shared channel, they didn't get it. They called in twice and twice were told that not everyone got the new channels but would by the end of the month. DOH! I called, got support on the phone and got them to wipe the account and rebuild it. That fixed it.

This is the first time since about 1997/98 that I've felt really good about DirecTV with respect to picture quality. It's been a long time coming but it is finally here. What a difference.

Thank you DirecTV. Now please do your best to keep the quality up and not immediately delve into watering it all down with crap.

I had one last night insist that the HD package had rolled out on Sept. 19. I told her it hadn't. She insisted it did. I told her to go to this site, Swanni's site (he had the article about the potential for today's rollout), and others just to see that it had not occurred. She insisted it did and told me I needed to talk to a technician to get it straightened out.

I got pretty lucky ... or so I thought at first. I only needed to speak to one CSR, and after 15 mins or so I had my Starz and an assurance that my NFL ST would still be fine on Sunday. As I mentioned in another thread, this CSR was very concerned about using the approach of switching my Premier package to Plus HD DVR and then switching back to Premier, because I'm on the NFL ST / 4 months free Premier promotion and he saw no way to prevent a charge for Premier if he did that. So whatever he did, I just trusted him. He seemed to be pretty on the ball, and Starz did show up.

Then came the punch line. I checked my bill, and I suddenly owe them about $58 more than I did a couple hours ago. There are so many line items now that it's going to take a CPA to figure this thing out. I am dreading having to call them back to get rid of these spurious charges, because I can't make heads or tails out of anything anymore. I'm afraid that if I call them to fix my bill, I'm going to lost some services. Or worse.

But I guess I gotta do what I gotta do.... I'll probably let it go for a day or 2 and see if it resolves itself, but I'm pretty doubtful about that.

Yes to that, and lets work on the SD quality a little bit.

I actually thought some SD was looking better the last few days. If it doesn't improve I'm going to have some questions...
