I meant Science Channel - 284

I am looking at the Science channel right now, and it says it's 1080i, but the picture isn't filling the screen. There are black bars on the sides, about 1in. wide. The far left side of the picture, right next to the bar has a weird view to it. like the picture is bent or something. kind of like your looking through really thick glass.

Anybody else seeing this?

I don't have that problem at all. Full picture in 1080i.

Check your display settings.

Nope, I'm looking at it now. Full 1080i on my screen.

That is because they are not showing a true HD program but upconverting it to 1080i which is why you have the small border.

1080 just means what resolution the picture is in. The picture sent to your TV is 16:9 full screen. The black parts are part of the picture.

What you are watching is a standard definition source that is slightly stretched but slighly pillar-boxed and uprezzed to 1080i.

Nothing wrong with your TV or your box.

Then why are some people getting a full screen ? I have my settings correct. I have it set to 1080i standard. I can only fill the screen if I go to 1080i expand. Not going to do that.

This is the only channel I have had the problem with.
