Just recently my dishplayer has been losing sound and picture when I use the 30 second skip function if i skip again sound comes back. The picture also starts to black out if i watch with no sound. Any ideas. I unplugged unit didn't help

It's started happening to me as well. It's infuriating! I'm pretty sure it has to do with the compression. This bug does not seem to affect me on channels that have more bandwidth like HBO. Hoewver, I'm wearing out the skip back button on WCBS, WNBC to try and get the sound to come back on.
So it's not just your unit.
See ya

It's been hapenning on both of my Dishplayers. Probably a software bug.

I'm seeing it too. On at least on of my DPs. It was annoying enough that I finally got around to ordering a 721 as a replacement. I'm going to hold off replacing the other DP until I see what the 921 looks like.

Tonight (Sunday) at 9pm PST I noted that most channels worked OK, but that Fox News had massive pixelation and sound dropouts on my DP. MSNBC would have a blinkout every few minutes.
jpkeenanjr, did you find a good deal on a 721 anywhere? I'm thinking of doing the same thing.

Exactly the same symptoms with both of my 7200s. It's about 11:30am here on the Georgia coast and I'm watching GMA, buffered from about 3-4 hours ago. When I skip through commercial blocks, about half the time I get the bug. A couple of <'s or >'s brings back audio (and video, if it went away too).
DP1 has only 4 hrs recorded, while DP2 is maxed with about 10 hrs on the HDD.
I'm having the same problems on my DP. I started noticing it on football games, sometimes having to use the FF or REW buttons to help the DP get the picture and sound back. Seems to me to be happening primarily on local channels - WBZ and WFXT from Boston are where I'm noticing it.
