i know its just a title
on the new HD channels i see huge station call letters and no icon of channel
my reciever is hr20-700s
will the next ce or national software update correct this

I don't know if the "next" one will do it, but it will take a software update to do it, so I can imagine it will happen at some point.

dumb question.....can you force a receiver to do an update? Or do they happen when they happen. In the menu my receiver shows no update scheduled for the future.

You can force one, but your receiver will always look to see if there is a newer version available. Your receiver will always have the latest national version.

The whole scheduled update thing... the receiver doesn't know until the new version has already been released into the stream, and usually then the scheduled update is only a few hours after it has seen the new update was available (usually updates are performed in the wee hours of the morning).
