As some of you know, I remodeled my basement last May and put in a 61" Sony, a 6000, 501, dvd, vcr, and surround sound system.

It turned out great and gives my twin teenagers (or me) a getaway. It seems like they always have their friends over, which is good so at least we know where they are!!

I brought all my satellite and antenna cables into the house at a central point and feed them all through an access door I left open next to the main drain clean out. Everything sits in front of the access door so you don't see any wires and it is easy for me to swap cables.

All was good untill yesterday, when I had the basement drain back up!

The water did not get into the finished area (thankfully) so I had no damage, but I had to call Roto Rooter!

Since I am paying something like $100.00 an hour for them, I about went into shock when they said they needed to clean out the main drain.

I had to move and disconnect everything in about 5 minutes! (no time to label my cables)

Anyway, they left about 5PM (##%%%$$ tree roots)and I finished hooking everything back up by 10:00 PM.

The only mix up I had was hooking up the wrong satellite cables to my 4 sat 6000 and my 3 sat 501. The 6000 could not find 61.5 (duh) but swapping the cables made everything ok.

I guess I knew the location I picked could be a problem, but didn't think it would happen so soon.

Anyway, it did give me a chance to do a better job of cable management, but I do recommend keeping your HT away from the drain clean out!!

Whew! Glad there was no damage, Phil! Yikes!!! I hate tree roots myself...I pretty much get my main drain snaked out every couple of years on the dot anymore just as a previnitive measure. Too much money invested in stuff too close to it for me!

BTW, next time try Hurricane Drain - they are significantly cheaper than Roto Rooter, and do a good job. They're the only ones I deal with anymore in the Denver area.
