Crop, Stretch in 720p & 1080i

I think I'm having a problem with my HR20-700 stretch / crop with HD. When viewing some of the new HD programing, I get the black bars on the sides of the screen. The crop and stretch do not change my picture in 720p or 1080i (athough I can stretch and crop in SD).

Is this normal? Does anyone have any ideas?

This is normal. Any programming that is not true HD on HD will be in pillar format. The HR20 selections only work for SD programming.

The HR20 only stretches or crops SD material, not HD.

The black bars are part of the channel's information. They are normal.
