OK, I had to share this info. since I am SO happy with my new universal remote and didn't have to spend $600+.
I had a Receiver remote, TV remote, DVD remote, VCR remote, 501 remote, and LD remote.
I got the Universal Remote MX-500 based on a recommendation from a friend and found it at eTronics for $113.
This remote is fantastic! Macros, learning, ergonomic, backlight, smart, and the key....HARD buttoned! Not LCD touchscreen.....
There are more expensive versions, but for me, this a) does the job and b) seems to be the best "bang for the buck."
Even my wife can use the remote easily.... :D
It takes some thought in setting up macros and hopefully, most devices have discrete power codes. Only my receiver has a discrete code, so that just means I have to turn on my 501 in each macro. That way, the System Off macro will always work.
Anyway, just thought I'd share this for those in the market.
