Top ten reasons the H20-100 is a piece of monkey trash

10 It does not have the remote code for my 42”plasma

9 The HDMI blanks out with my 42”plasma

8 Since the firmware update in July the guide is slow

7 Since the firmware update in July moving around the menu is slow

6 I am on my 3rd H20-100 since Nov 2006

5 Since the firmware update in July the aspect ratio changes on SD channels from 4x3 to stretch

4 Box locks up

3 You have to press the guide button 2 times to get the guide

2 It will not default to the HD channel but to the SD channel i.e pressing 202

1 DirecTV has no fix for the H20-100


If you have an H20-100 and have the same problems Call Directv and tell them to fix it

I used to have the same feelings about the -100. I'm going to be with D* for the next couple of years, so I figured instead of just ranting, I'd become part of the solution. So I started testing the CEs for the -100.

I'm happy with mine. Most of these problem have been resolved in the CEs. Hopefully, a new national release will be available soon. Hang in there. Or better yet, come join the users that participate in the CE program....

I have a H20-100 and it is one of the better boxes on have ever used

My H20-100 is running 0x2030 and I have had no problems. In contrast, I am on my ninth (yes 9th!) HR20... but with current software it is also very reliable. Sorry that other are having problems. What I have done is to try all the remedies they have suggested, then requested a new box. They have always offered me one, frequently with some type of apology in the form of credits on my bill. Thing is, to me D* seems to be willing and able to work on these problems. At this point there is a big difference between my two HR20s. One has a tendency to reboot itself for no apparent reason. When I can't live with it any more, I will probably swap it out.

To those of you having H20-100 problems, either get a new box or try a CE software update. D* actually wants your receiver to work!:)

For everyone that says box X is the worst in the world, there is someone else that says it is terrific. It becomes a source of wry amusement to see these posts.

I have two H20's (although they are the -600), and while I find certain aspects of them irritating, it doesn't make or break my experience. And yes, I agree, the menu is slow, although I have found the latest national firmware release to be an improvement, versus a worsening.

Sorry to hear you're so down on the H20-100. I like my H20-100 and the recent CE software seems to have cleaned up several of the issues you mention. Further, I understand that future SW updates will provide additional improvements to the GUI and other issues. If you don't like the H20, then try the HR20. It's awesome too.
