No More Instant Weather

I haven't looked at Dish interactive weather recently so I was surprised today to see TWC had moved to position 1 and Instant Weather had moved to position 5. No big deal, I thought. Checked TWC - still very slow to load or change cities. Then checked Instant Weather, which has always been quick to load, and often more accurage forecast than TWC. Surprise! Nothing there but an announcement from Dish that Instant Weather will no longer be available.

Not sure why they made this decision. I thought offering both weather services was a real plus. Between the slowness of TWC and the fact that I lose satellite signal during major storms, I guess internet will continue to be my primary weather info source.

I wonder if the "instant weather" contract expires this weekend and they have been holding off on the new TWC weather until then?

"Weather on the 8's" is an overall better system ... when it is fully working with cross channel alerts and the banner.

The 921 and 721 used their own Linux Weather App with Accuweather Data because they were not going to have OpenTV on the 721 and 921. The 721 did implement OpenTV.

The 721 now tunes to the TWC OpenTV App and the 921 still has the Linux App and uses the TWC Weather Data instead of Accuweather. The 921 still doesn't have OpenTV.

So, the 921 will still have the Instant Weather Linux App with TWC Weather Data and Graphics.

Yep, I can confirm that nothing has changed but the addition of theTWC logo.
