Hi, I have a simple question. Can I simply swap my VIP622 with a 508 without modifying any cables/hardware? I'm asking since the 622 is an HD receiver and the 508 is not. Will my 508 work where my 622 used to be?
Thanks.

[QUOTE=gxshiem;1174125]Can I simply swap my VIP622 with a 508 without modifying any cables/hardware?/QUOTE]Yes! The feature set of the 508 is in all ways a subset of those of the ViP622.

Yes it will. If there is a DPP Separator, take it with the 622 and feed the line from the dish or external switch into the 508. If there are 2 lines, use either one. Run a Check Switch on the 508.

Now, is NBR on the 508 really so great that you'd give up HD and 3-tuner recording? :D

Thanks guys. I was just wondering if all my receivers were interchangeable. I have a 508, 622, and 211. I guess they are!

BobaBird: I can't live without my 622...

Gxshiem,

NO, the 622 is NOT necessarily interchangeable with a 508. First off if you want the HD channels you will need a New dish or an additional Dish. This means you'll likely need another switch.

If you don't have or install a DPP44 Switch then you will need an additional Coax Cable run to the location of the 622.

As such, it can safely be assumed that the correct dish and switchgear are present.

Anywhere a ViP622 was working, a 508 will work. No ifs, ands or buts.

Harsh,

Ooops, after I posted I realized I assumed the reverse was what he was asking. As Emilie Latella would say, "Never Mind".:D
