Sorry if this was posted before. I did a search and came out with nothing.

Just had a slimline dish, a hd box and a hd dvr installed this morning from DTV.

I am getting a 721 error on most of the new HD channels, like TBS and all of the Discovery channels etc. except Smithsonian. I can watch their counterpart SD channels with no problem. Channels that I can see are all of the Star HD's, ESPN, TNT HD, and my locals wich I believe are on MPEG4.

I have reset the receiver, both unplugging and hitting the red button. Re-did the satellite dish set up. Checked that I am getting a good signal on 103b, 103a and 99, wich I am. Finally called DTV and they tried resetting my signal, I was forwarded to the tech dept and they said it was a known problem for my area. Wich I have my doubts since I have not read anything about it. They said to be patient and should have a fix in a bout a week. The problem was on their end supposedly.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. :)

What package do you have on your account? I've heard a rumor of people that have older / expired packages getting weird authorization problems with the new hd channels.

I had the same problem. Call DirecTV, if the person is knowledgeable, they will cancel and then re-add your HD Access. But, the first thing they probably will ask you to do is to reset the receiver.:)

Thanks Sylvanir that was my problem. Right after I posted this I called DTV for the 4th time hoping to get someone a little more knowledgeable. Well I guess fourth time is the charm. I got a lady, who had a very heavy accent, and could barely understand her, who knew her stuff, first thing she noticed was my old package. She went ahead and updated it, problem solved.
