View Full Version : How do I hook up Directv and Dish Network both?
I am a Dish Network subscriber and I am thinking of changing to DirecTV because they have my locals and Dish doesn't. my question is can I keep my Dish Network receiver and get DirecTV and hook them both up to my t.v.? the reason I am keeping my Dish Network receiver is that I am a Sky Angel subsciber and I can only get it thru my Dish Network receiver. so is there any way if I get DirecTV that I can hook them both up to the same t.v.? there will only be one hook up of each receiver (DISH & DIRECTV) .any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
First, what type of inputs & how many of each does your TV have?

Are you using the A/V patch cords or are you limited to RF (ch 3)?
While it's not quite what you asked, there is a single dish solution for getting Dish and DirecTV programming, http://www.techweenies.com/dss-1.shtml. Of course, Sky Angel at 61.5 still needs its own dish.
I am limited to channel 3

You could put up two different dishes or one dish for both in which will be a little bigger. I had seen someone attach an lnbf onto a dish 500 dish for Direct but I do not know exactly how they do it as I have not had luck with that experiment.

If you dont have an antenna you can chain the receivers together using the (antenna in) port, and shutting off the corresponding receiver you are not using.
