Can you use a DishNet dish for a Directv setup?

Depends on which dish and what you want?
You can use legacy E* dish/lnbs to get 101, 110 and 119 on D*.
Can't use any DP dishes and can't get 99 or 103.

the above is exactly correct(except for the 110 sat as requires a special lnb)

Note, if you purchase a new receiver from D*, they will install a new dish for you for free (assuming you do not have the correct dish for the new sat)

I'm 95% sure its a legacy dish and not a DP dish. So if it is a legacy dish I can catch 101 and 119. What channels would I be missing from the 110 sat?

Majority of the mpeg 2 hd channels come from 110, and assuming you only have 1 legacy dish, you could only get 101 or 119 not both at the same time with 1 lnb

I want to put a dish on my pool house, rather than run 2 300-400ft rg6 cables.

Good I believe it has 2 or 3 LNBs. I thought the 110 was mpeg 2 hd so it will work out good. Ill get the 101 and 119 sats.

Only things on 110 and 119 is HD, Locals and international stuff so if all you want is SD then all you need is 101.

IF it's 2 or 3 lnb's then your chances that it will work are diminishing. There were some legacy Dish 500 dishes with 2 discreet LNB's. 3 LNB would be Dish 1000 I think and that isn't a legacy dish.
Also you won't get 101 and 119 from one dish either. At least not without some modifications, bailing wire, ty-wraps, and/or duct tape

Were it I and I had a pool house, I'd spend the token $ for a 5lnb dish off ebay. Not worth the hassle to mess with a dish meant for Dish Network. And then I get the full spectrum of HD channels. :)

Tom,
Maybe a pool house means his home has a really, really leaky basement and he can't afford the new equipment?

At the very least, the OP could pick up a 3lnb for next to nothing, instead of using the E* dish, it just doesnt make any sense.
