Hello,
I have a terk BIA20 all weather inline sat amp. The instructions don't say where to put the amp on the RG6 cable. Where would be the best place to put the amp? Closer to the receiver or closer to the dish?
Thanks

Seriously, there is no reason you should need an amplifier at all. It's also very likely it will cause problems with your system.
I agree completely with Smuuth - set your system up without the amp and watch it work. Don't even think about the amp unless/until it doesn't work.
As to where to put a signal amp in general, you want to put it as close to the source of the signal as possible. You want to amplify the signal, not the noise. So in your case, if you were to use one (and we really recommend not), it would go as close to the dish as possible.

in the middle of the run, if possible. If your trying an amp, you probably have additional problems. Almost everybody can get by without an amp. :)

I agree with the other guys, you will more then likely be fine without an amp. Middle of the run is the suggested place.

Middle of the run for signal lockers or powered multiswitches. As close to the dish as possible for signal amplifiers.

Line amp is only need on runs of 100 feet or more. Best to use measured distances as reference as were the amp is placed. Such as the above advised distance. Line amps are only for making up for line losses, so measurements should be made prior to adding them in. To much line amplification can cause overload that will destroy the signal at the receiver. In some cases the mutiswitch will not work right if to much signal is present. I have reason to believe that the WB68 and WB616 have automatic line amps built in. If to much signal is present they will shut down. I also believe that there is no need to have line amp if you use the WB68 or wb616 up to 150 feet from the Antenna. The Mutiswitches takke care of the signal.

DON'T use it. It will cause problems with the slimline or side-car satellites. I had one already in place when I had the triple LNB's but when I upgraded to slimline, it caused problems making the signals bounce like mad!

when it bounces, it's too strong.
