My 501's hard drive gave me an error message the other day. Dish told me that I LOSE. They sent me a new 501. I have to send the old one back. I can't believe that every bit of data is not accessible on that old drive.

I have connected it to my PC and using Partition Magic 8, it shows me as being non formatted in any OS and unallocated and empty.

Knowing how long it would take to "delete" 40 gb worth of data, I don't believe it is truly empty.

Anyone know of a way to get to that data using a PC? Or any other ideas?

Thanks in advance...

Chances are it's not empty, however the format on the 501 is something exclusive to Dish. Unfortunately I know of no drivecopy or Dishrip software which can copy the data for you.
