MX-650 remote and skip to tick / end

I have a MX-650 remote and for the life of me I can not get it to get the 2nd level of commands that the HR20 remote issues in one press.. ie.. skip to trick and skip to start / end. Has anyone been sucessfull? If so how? What I have done is I somehow got the 650 to take the command, but I have to hold it down on the mx-650, and it evenutally will skip. My question is, whats the key to get it done and does it work with 1 push on the 650 or do you have to hold it down like I have done?
