My sister recently had a 2 receiver D* system installed. She decided that she really needs 3 receivers and has asked me if I would install the additional one for her. I told her I would do it but considering that she needs a switch to connect that 3rd box would it just be less expensive for her to go with D*'s offer? Does their "professional installation" include a switch or is that extra? If she can find a good deal on a basic receiver I can pick up a switch at Fry's or BB for about $70 and maybe save her a bit of cash if the installer is going to gouge her on the extra hardware.
Any thoughts?

You can actually pick up a switch much less than $70. You can find a 3X4 multi-switch for less than $30 on EBay or at www.minidishes.com
As far as what the "professional installation" includes, I'm not sure, but $99 for a new box if it includes a multi-switch isn't a bad deal, especially for an existing customer.

Yes, that deal is for existing customers. They say on their website that it is good for up to 3 receivers at $99 each, professional installation included. If they include the price of the switch (since they really wouldn't have to do much else anyway) I can't touch that deal even buying stuff off of E-Bay. That's why I was wondering if the switch was included. Has anyone taken them up on this offer recently?
What is the model of the receivers?

A lot of times you can get a deal if you call Direct and tell them that you need a switch. They might even include one anyways, and if not, they may throw one in. Tell them that you might go with another provider if they cannot give you a better deal by giving you the switch and they will probably budge.
