I am having trouble with one of my HR20 receivers and my OTA antenna. My setup has a Winegard Squareshooter (SS2000) and two HR20's (one in the basement and one upstairs). The line comes off the antenna, through a preamp and then is split to the two HR20's (which are connected directly, no diplexers). The HR20 in the basement has no problems (it is an HR20-700). The upstairs HR20 (a HR20-100) has problems on one of my local HD stations (Channell 6 in the Augusta,GA market). About every minute or so, the picture will freeze for about 1-2 seconds with pixels showing up all over the screen. Then it will go back to normal. I have hooked the antenna cable to the TV directly and had no problems. I brought the receiver from downstairs up and had no problems. Have I gotten a HR20 that has a bad antenna connection? Is this a HR20-100 issue? I pay for the protection plan on my account, so will Directv consider this an issue where I will be able to get a replacement receiver? Any help is appreciated.

What happens if you take the HR20-100 downstairs? If it still has this problem, then it might be defective. Or its tuner is slightly different and more sensitive to some reception issue with that specific channel.

It's a good test to see if you've just got a bad cable. You may just need to re-terminate one or both of the ends of your cable, as litzdog911 is referring to by moving your setup. Also, if you have a poor quality cable, it could cause low signal input.

I have the same problem but it is only on tuner 1. Look at the signsl meter and see what they read. mine are both at 95+ but as I look at them I can see tuner 1 drop to 50 or 0 for 1 or 2 seconds then return. If I watch a program on the OTA I get the same problem the picture will freeze for about 1-2 seconds with pixels. If I watch a program with this problem I assume it is from tuner 1 and a recording starts on a OTA channel it must use tuner 2 as the recording does not have any problems.
