Hi folks, just curious if anyone has some info on this new program that was released this summer. I am having dishN installed thursday and was told they were carrying nhl center ice but the sales rep was unsure of the NHL Network channel that is supposed to go along with it.

Any and all help appreciated!

center ice is what, like 160 for the season? also I thought that the nhl channel was just hidden in the offseason? lastly, an hd channel carries some games - hdnet - I saw a game on there last weekend

It's $149 with the early bird discount. The NHL Network is a new channel that (I think) launched on Monday. It will be year-round like NFL Network, I believe.

I just checked my account on Dish's website and they've charged me $149 for auto-renewal. I'm a little surprised and irritated that they didn't do the 3 installments that they've done in the past. I just suddenly owe an extra $149 this month.

NHLN has not been released, yet. There is no indication as to when it will be.

NHL Center Ice is not new to Dish. I have had it for the last three years. Excluding the playoffs, they broadcast all games that are not on NBC or Versus. If both teams have a feed, you have your choice of which feed to watch. If the game is also covered by TSN Canada, you will have three feeds. HD Net carries some games in addition to what is on NHL Center Ice. I don't remember if they repeat the game later in the day, but if you have a DVR, it's set it and forget it.

You're thinking of the Center Ice package, not the NHL Network which is a network dedicated to hockey and has been broadcast for a few years in Canada.

I thought DirectTV had a contract for center ice for 5 years. But, I may be wrong.

NHL Net nabs U.S. Carriage

NHL Network, currently on Canadian TV, skates south this month after completing distribution deals with U.S. cable operators Comcast, Cox Communications, Cablevision and Time Warner, and with satellite operators DirecTV and Dish Network. In total, the network will pass about 72 million U.S. homes.

Xsabresx,

NHL Network, on Dish Network, is HD only. It is available in the Center Ice package, but only if you have an HD receiver. NHL Network is also available if you have the HD Package.

Why did NHL make it an HD channel only? Why not offer it both ways? Hockey is not the most popular sport in America and I don't think the majority of people have HD. Kinda dumb,IMO,on the NHL's part for only offering HD.

It is SD only on Comcast.
