Awesome!!!
As long as Sci Fi HD is on before the Battlestar Galactica movie airs.
Confirms another thread that was posted here that showed a full page ad from D* and MHD for 10/8
I am thinking we will see a few new ones this week.

I would say... you know about as much from reading his article as you knew before, which is that it could happen, or it could not.

When is that supposed to be, the movie I mean?

In November. It's called Caprica.

Isn't this basically a pilot for a spin off series?
I just want season 3 on DVD! Please!

Actually, its called Razor.
And it tells the story of the Pegasus crew and how they survived. It's a 4 hour deal, I believe and the Battlestar crew play as minor characters.

The last thing I heard on "Caprica" was that it was a proposed spin-off, but SciFi hasn't picked it up yet.

Negative.
The movie in November, "Razor," is the story of the Pegasus during the war depicted in the original BSG miniseries.
"Caprica" is in Development Hell at this point, and there is no indication that Sci-Fi is going to pick it up one way or the other. After "Razor," the season premiere (picking up after "All Along The Watchtower") is sometime in January (though February wouldn't surprise me)...
Hmmm, BSG evolved into a dark, slow moving soap that we gave up on a few months ago.

Since Fox's new business channel starts on October 15, I expect that channel to start on DirectV on that date. I also expect CNBC's HD to start around the same date.
However I must warn you, I have been known to be wrong.

Remember way back in Swanni's article which has a link above that there was a quote from D* that it would be adding channels periodically:
Eric Shanks, DIRECTV's executive vice president of entertainment, told TVPredictions.com in August that DIRECTV would likely add a "few channels here and a few channels there" after its initial rollout until it reached the 70 mark.
That means it will be adding them over the next few weeks.

The date a broadcaster is going to turn on HD is not necessarily indicative of D* turning on the feed. In fact, I don't think these two dates have ever match. However, I also have been wrong before.....

on going process... some will show up ealier and some will probably show up later... technical life and that's just how it is.... so i would by no means hold that date as a garauntee... but then again they are putting them up now so maybe they have the bugs worked out for the most part... i think the guide was the main issue on getting the channels started during the first round..... was tricking alot of the older receivers with the duplicate channels i think.... many older std receivers had to get reset after getting stuck in guide loading please wait with no % problem has been resolved from what i can tell though

No, but generally speaking, DirecTV has often turned on a channel when it started if the bandwidth is there...

And boy is the bandwidth there now. :)
The real delay on the HD channels the first time was the 'glitch'....whatever it was. That certainly seems to have been resolved, so I'm pretty sure we are in for a trickle of new HD channels every week. Lets remember that NGC was already up on 9300 or 9301, so we know that they have it backhauled and ready to go. MHD has been around for a while too, so it wouldn't surprise me at all.
My guess is for at least those two tomorrow. I think MGMHD will be next wednesday. And so forth through October...which will be quite nice.

Very recently, the Smithsonian Channel started on the same day it went live on DirecTV. (Mostly because DirecTV is the only provider with it to date.)
DirecTV has been the launch point for many SD channels over the years. Often the only provider at first. That has not been true for HD but after things stabilize with D10 and D11, that may be true again.

All of that is very true. I used to seriously jones for some of those channels back when I still had cable.

Thats true but Rupert Murdoch does has a relationship with DirecTV (News Corp owned ~38% of DirecTv shares before selling it to Liberty). So he may have a little bit of influence in getting the Fox Business Channel up ASAP on DirecTV. He wants the show available in as many homes as he can get. And if he launches the channel in HD before CNBC then he has some bragging rights which I'm sure he'll use.
But I have been know to be wrong.
4 to 6 channels a week until December 31, 2007. I like the idea of getting a few channels a week, it will keep me pumped!
But, if they do 11, like some think, tomorrow, that takes at least one week out of the equation. Ick!
