Well now that the Echostar / DirecTV merger is now official dead, the question is what's next for DirecTV?
The question also is will this be the new home page for DirecTV? http://www.sky.com
Only time will tell. What would YOU like to see happen to DirecTV?

Sky is Murdock's Global DBS Company. The only place you can't get Sky is North America.

As a E* sub, FWIW, I just want D*, whoever gets it, Rup or someone else, to continue operations as they are now and continue to strive at improving their service. Oh yeah, speaking of websites, I hope that online EPG is NEVER removed! It's a great feature of the website and a great reference :)
sorry but i never liked Directv on-line EPG.Never seemed to work right for me.Yes i am using the latest browsers but i might give it another try latter. I much rather use www.excite.com , the scrolling is much better and it remembers your settings and the channels you filtered out as long as you sign in to my excite.

Hi Scott,
Why all of a sudden is there alot of talk of predicting the demise of DirecTV? And why does everyone think that Murdoch buying DirecTV is an evil thing?

Haven't followed this as much as I should have, but it has (partly???) to do with the advancement of HDTV. Murdoch is set on thinking 480p 'enhanced defination' is good enough. It will be a cold day in hall when any News Corp or Fox affilate channels do 720p/1080i.

That I understand, but I am also under the impression that there is not going to be much HDTV on DBS, even if the merger went through, unless better compression is used.

The only HD that won't be on DBS is local, unless there is a deal like with Dish and CBS. If 8PSK is utilized things will be less problematic, but easiser said then done.

Here's a look at Murdock's DBS Universe:
Sky Brazil
Sky Latin America
Sky Mexico
Sky Digital (Europe)
Sky Active (Europe Interactive)
Foxtel (Australia/New Zealand)

Then the notion of "locals for all" is then a moot point.
