This movie being riffed is This Island Earth (http://us.imdb.com/Details?0047577), and was filmed between the sixth and seventh seasons of MST3K, but shown after the seventh season. It is currently not available on either DVD or VHS.

That is one thing I wished they did more of. "This Island Earth" I consider a classic (may be borderline?) but I wish they would have made fun of more "Good" or "Classic" movies. Them making fun of the Star Trek or Star Wars movies would have been great.

Not bad for a program that started as a public access program on the Minneapolis cable system. They did good. Sort of a real life Wayne's World.

That's the common misperception. It wasn't a cable public-access show, but it was airing on one of the lower-rated UHF stations. See www.mst3kinfo.com for a complete history.

You are correct. They started on KTMA, an indi station in Minneapolis. Might as well have been public access though as I recall from the station. :lol: Great success story though.

I miss this show. Anyway, I figured that after This Island Earth, they should have done "When Worlds Collide" followed by "Forbidden Planet" (Gene Roddenberry's inspiration for Star Trek).
