Last night they had the Food Network HD on for a little while. So I went into the guide and I put Everyday Italian to record at 12 and 12:30 am. Then we lost the Channel (at around 11pm CST).
This morning I check my playlist and I got 2 episodes of Giada in Hi Def recorded!???
All I have to say is HOW THE HELL???

The channel is still "there" -- we mere mortals cannot see it in our guide nor tune to it at this point. Seems that the HR20 can/could -- at least for awhile.
Interesting. And a hopeful sign, possibly, for problems many of us have had in the past with sports package recordings and "disappearing" channels.

It was either a test or an oopsie. Either way, the channel was not scheduled for this morning.

I recorded them also. If I go to my playlist and select episodes in the left menu, then select a currently playing episode, I get the Food Network back in HD.

Nice find, I recorded a few things last night and it works for me.....too bad most people probably didn't record anything last night. Bottom line is I still get food hd and will until directv finds a way to stop me.

Are all the central cooking shows on food in HD? Obviously Giada is (which is awesome) but how about Alton Brown's, Emeril's, Rachael Ray's, etc.?
Can't wait for this network full-time.

My guess would be that D* wanted to test how one of the sub-channels
(231-1) would work on subs receivers. These sub channels will be used for
those channels that show differant content on the H/D feed from the regular
S/D program...just a WAG!:D

I was watching Food Network HD while some guy was making cupcakes for a kid party waiting for Good Eats and BOOM no more Food HD:icon_dumm I didn't think to record any of the listed shows. Please bring it back. It looked great.:D Don't forget HGTV HD too.

Good Eats, yes. Emeril, no. Rachel Ray, I don't think but am not sure.
Here's the HD schedule (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/hdtv/)

Food and HGTV share owners, and I am sure they will show up together. Don't know what the delay is, I expected them to show up in the first wave, actually.

I think that is likely correct.
