Does anyone know when D* will go public with SWM installs?

It is public now, but in very limited locations/situations. Will be sometime next year before it is available to everyone.

I guess the big question is when can we buy it from SolidSignal.com?

From what I understand...
The switches are not going to be available outside of DirecTV for a good period of time.

My wife is home now while the HR-20 is being installed and I had her ask about SWM. The installer said that they weren't installing it yet, but they had a meeting about it last week. From what I gather from my wife, the installer didn't say what was discussed in the meeting.

Earl,
Do you know what the "special cases" are where DirecTV would have an installer use an SWM?
My brother is looking to switch to Directv, and his house apparently had Directv in the past, but they were only able to run 1 line it seems. He is looking to get an HR20 and a second HD receiver (non-dvr), with likely 1-2 more down the road.
Thanks
I've read Earl's thread introducing the SWM and the discussion thread. Just wondering if anyone off hand has a short features and benefits list.
I would also be interested in learning about the supported or best performing wiring designs. It seems that the threads have so many flexible alternatives that suboptimal configurations might be likely to occur.
Has anyone scanned the SWM guide in a PDF and posted it ?

There are a bunch of threads here in the Cutting Edge forum, that can give you all the details that you are asking for... including very elaborate diagrams.
"Short List"
-) Single Wire solutions for DVRs
-) Ability to SPLIT the line
