Have a large setup at boss's house and looking to make it better either simplifying or improving. Currently everything works as is though the signal might be lower than before on the HR20's than when things were direct off the multiswitch and not cascaded. I tried drawing quick diagram as its the only way to see it all...

I posted my specific questions in the diagram itself so please post your thoughts or comments on making this better.

OMG! 11 HR20s! Plus a slew of Sony Sat-A65As!

I'm pretty speechless, but thankfully I can type...slowly.........

If the Ideal 4way power splitter doesn't work, with today's (semi) available parts, I'd go to solidsignal or sadoun and get their 4 one, single side power passing splitters. Send one of the WB616s to Tom Robertson, Roy UT. (Just kidding!) :)

Acquire another SWM5 or wait for SWM8, hook 4 Sony Sat-A65As to legacy ports on SWM5s, move HR20s awaiting SWM ports to the freed up WB616 ports.

Depending on future expansion needs, my ideal bill of materials would look like:
4 - four port, single leg power passing splitters
1 WB616
3 SWM5 (or SWM8)
Cables and diplexers as needed
MANY 102" and 76" DLP TVs to fill this mansion. :)

Have fun,
Tom

How much of this is planned vs. already in operation?

1) The splitter between the WB616's and the dish need to be single port power passing so that only one WB616 is acting as a signal locker.

2) Why 2 SWM5's and not 1 SWM8?

Ok so the 4 way splitter should work. that's good to know. Probably didn't keep track of who was gettin the power and might have mixed that up.

Some guy at D* sent me two 5's. When I can buy them we'll get (3) SWM8's.

Cool. that sounds as simple as it'll get until they ever make an SWM16.

Yea some old 60" marantz plamas left but most upgraded to 70" samsung lcds or sony's. Will also replace the A65A's with H20's so at least every receiver will be able to get the same HD channels. Even though those are in the server room and go over matrix switches that don't do hidef the picture will be better.

Thanks for the reply.

Everything in diagram is running right now.
1. Yes from tom's post above I might have confused where power was going.
2. That is what I could get. Lucky to have any right now. That piece of the diagram wasn't by design it was someone being helpful to at least get 4 HR20 that could only have one wire activated on 2 tuners. There are some receivers in the server room and some out local to TV's. When they are shipping we'll get 3 SWM8's.

Just fyi, I can't get the 4 way splitters to work. tried with power passing to multiswitch and tried with power passing to an swm. all receivers show searching for signal. go to the 2 way splitters with all ports power passing and cascade the swms off one of the multiswitches and it works. I think a 4 way splitter with all port power passing will work even though it doesn't make sense.

.

who did you get the swm's from, as i need 2 for my setup
