I recently promoted my HR20-100 to my main TV room, where it is connected to my TV via HDMI and my audio receiver via digital coax. It's replacing a HR10-250 which was connected to the TV via HDMI and the audio receiver via optical.
When I had DD enabled on the HR10-250 and was watching a show with DD audio, I could not use my TV speakers, because my TV doesn't decode DD.
However, with the HR20, I can now use my TV speakers even on shows with DD audio. For now, this is is a welcome surprise, but I'm curious what will happen if I upgrade to an HDMI capable receiver.
Does the HR20 ever send DD through HDMI? Is it just smart enough to realize my TV isn't DD capable and sends PCM through HDMI while sending DD through the digital coax?
