View Full Version : Question on Sat 103 signal strength
My Sat 103 signal strengths are low in the morning, causing "searching for signal". They rise as the morning progresses. The readings are good now for my HR20. Moisture problem?

Any tree limbs nearby? Possible a dew laden limb obstructing a bit of the signal. I'd also check for critters, spiderwebs or anything else that could be on the dish.
Another thought is your connectors. Are the ones on the outside the compression type? You may be right about the moisture problem if they are allowing a bit of condensation that is dissipating with the heat of the day. Just a few things I would look at off the top of my head.
Would dew cause the signal to drop to all 0's on 103b? That is what I had this morning. Now they are around 90.
I'm by no means an expert - but My (personal) experience is that trees/dew does not affect signal strength. I have a dish point directly thru a stand of huge trees and constantly get a 93% signal strength... now snow or a significant rain storm is a different situation.
you may be getting condensation on any of the connectors and/or your multiswitch outside (if tis out there). Many people have seen issues w/ rust/bad connectors on the new wideband. theres many other threads on this and related 771's here: http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=103228
