I have a question regarding the broadcast of YES in HD...what is with two channels broadcasting the HD version? Its on 622 and 684...is this the case for everyone in the country? Or do only those in the NY area get the 684 channel?

Does the NY market see YES HD in both channels or only 684?
Is one being spot beamed? Or is one MPEG2 and other is MPEG4?

Clarification would be appreciated if you know

What I think is the case:

The HD version on 622 is in MPEG4 from D10 and available nationally. The SD version of 622 is MPEG2 from 101 and also available nationally, as it has always been.

I believe 684 is the spotbeam version for (only) the NY local market that used to be dual-mapped to 622. Also MPEG4.

I imagine that they have left the spotbeam versions of the CONUS RSN's available in the local markets "just in case" any glitches happen with the new CONUS versions.

so is this then a temporary usage of double the amount of bandwidth needed then?

I wonder if anyone in the NY market can answer this...do you get YES HD both on ch 622 and 684 or just 684.

I guess the same applies for SNY or NESN..since they also seem to be in the same boat

I believe the local folks get both as of now...and yes, it's using more bandwidh -- but only the CONUS version is using the new bandwith on 103b -- the old versions are on the spotbeam birds (103a/99b).

But someone in Boston/Chicago/NYC would have to confirm whether they're seeing both, though I believe that has been reported.

SNY is on 625 and 683. The resolution on 625 is incorrect.
Yes is on 622 and 684. The resolution is correct on both.

Prior to the launch/light up of D10, I got 622 (YESHD) and 625 (SNYHD) - I never saw 683 or 684. They only showed up recently. (Yes - I'm in the local DMA and have always had Premier).
