Welcome Pez, and yes i do know what you fill. I was really excited to when i got my Dish Network. I was disappointed that it took a week for an installer to come out, but was so happy to see it on and working and go through all the channels. I was like a kid in a candy store hehe...so enjoy pez2002 and happy channel surfing.

If I can make a recommendation, spend the $2 and upgrade to Total Choice Plus w/locals. The addition of a gaggle of kids stations, and some others is worth the $2 IMHO. Welcome aboard. Most of us here are disgruntled former cable subscribers, so we understand your excitement. Good luck with your intall and let us know how you like it.

I've had my directv for 3 weeks now and I love it.... I have a Dish which is being cut off for now.... I think the PQ is a tad better on directv for sports...... I love the Sunday Ticket..... Glad they renewed the Ticket....

I still haven't figured out how directv has so many channels on one dish.... Or at least I'm only aiming at one satellite.....

They have all the transponders at 101 degrees where you're pointed.

Ther are 32 slots at each location. DTV has licenses for all 32 at 101. DISH actaully has more slots----even more conus slots but because they have part of 110 and part of 119 you have to aim at two slots to see all the programming.

It is my understanding that there have been talks between DISH and Direct to swap a few transponders but DISH does not want to give up the overall advantage in TPs and DTV does not want to give DISH a whole CONUS slot so the talsk went nowhere.

Keep cable....

Basically - Comcast SportsNet Philly is delivered terrestially, meaning no satellite links were used in delivery. Due to some strange loopholes in the law, this single fact means that Comcast is NOT required to make CCSN-Philly available to the DBS providers.

And that's the long and short of it..
