I have Cox. they run ads showing people tearing the dishes off their house and running to cable. Obvioulsy it is the cable company that is running scared.

Ive seen the Time Warner commercial for "singing in the rain" and i almost passed out for laughing so hard. "want to get over 200 channels of crystal clear digital cable even in the rain? Get Time Warner Cable. Now anything is possible."....lmao. Funny how they forgot to mention all the times the cable went out on the clearest of days.

AT&T has commercials about Santa hitting dishes on roofs. What they don't show is the cable tv hole in the back of the house filled with caulk and no cable anywhere in sight! :)

It rained all night Thurs and most of the day on Friday (I mean a good steady rain - over 1 1/2 inches) where I live... The satellites (dish or directv) I have never lost their signals.... The signal strength went down a little but no loss of picture.... The cable companies act like a rain will knock the signal off but it takes a heavy thuderstorm to do that..... And as we all know, cable can go out at anytime (usually not their fault but hey you gotta blame someone)
The biggest joke is when they tell you to get cable in every room is very very expensive on satellite..... That is just too funny..... My sister has digital cable and pays 8.50 each (per month) for the digital boxes she has..... I'm pretty sure satellite beats that......

Now that both E* and D* have locals here, TW has elected to drop the 'Satellite sucks because they don't have your locals' commercials in favor of 'satellite sucks because they don't have R News' R News is Time Warner's Buffalo/Rochester cable news channel, which isn't that great. They even have stooges saying that the cable company cares about it's customers and air commercials for local businesses.
Great, I get annoying low quality video comericals with excessively loud and distoring audio over my cable channels regular comericals, for more money and worse picture quality?
Sign me up

Comcast is running "anti-dish" radio spots
in Atlanta that bash dbs, saying you
have to sign a one year contract, pay
extra for locals, additional fees for extra
receivers, etc. Of course, the announcer
also says you can't watch tv in the rain...and so on.
The kicker is that "Comcast is the only
way you can watch "Comcast Sports South."
Noooooooooooooooooooooo! I'm losing
sleep just thinking about it. LOL!

Oregon just got pummeled with 3 back to back storms, dumping about 7 inches of rain and I never lost my signal for a moment. Now look at the PQ on my AT&T analog cable and you'll puke!

This morning, we had a bad rain/wind storm go through the Sacramento area. I only lost the following transponders:
110 - 13 (no signal), 27, 29
119 - None.
I didn't check 148. However, for some of the channels, they were still peaking at 125 for the spots, most were in the 70-90s. and a few in the low 50s.
