Channel 235 - Part of the Superstations Package
Channel 829 - Orignal location of the Denver LIL (before they moved all of the locals to the 8000's
Channel 8204 - the new location for the Denver Locals.
If you were in Denver, they would also show up on their OTA channel number !
Now the good news - it's not 3 repetitions being broadcast - what Dish does is simply assign multiple IRD channels to the same program stream. So relax..

Yup for me, KWGN is:
Channel 2 - Local channel number
Channel 235 - Superstation channel number
Channel 829 - Original LIL channel number
Channel 8204 - New LIL channel number
Of those 4, I go back and forth using Channel 2 and Channel 8204. Never use 235 or 829 anymore.

Everyone is forgetting that KWGN is also mirrored on channel 9069 for the Colorado Springs locals crowd, :)

Maybe I'll pose this for the next technical chat, but why are the local channels still existing in the 7xx-8xx range? While they aren't taking up additional satellite bandwidth, they are probably taking up precious room on the program guide.
I mean, it's been a year since the channels were located in the 8xxx-9xxx area, and at least six months since local channel mapping began on the receivers.

When you pick an avatar be careful that the little box allowing you to pick a custom one. For whatever reason it defaults to not letting you do it. It can be frustrating.

Actually E* tried to get rid of the 700+ range once. All subs got letters stating that everyone should start using the 8000+ range because the old range would be turned off soon. E* got overwhelmed by calls from irate subs stating, my elderly parents or grandparents can barely type 3 digits before the 1 or 2 numbers typed cancel out. But one could now argue that E* should get rid of the dups in the 200, 700, 800 ranges, and offer subs that complain an upgrade for $75, which is the RMA exchange price today.
I recently abandoned my 5000 for a 4900 because the 1st gen receivers are practically useless. Next year the 5000 will turn 7 years old. I wouldn't expect my VCR to last that long. Ironically it seems the 1st gen receivers became non-functional when channel mirroring started.

I don't know Marcus... My nearly six year-old 4000 is working great. Yes it's slow on the guide, but it works fine. The 5 year-old 1000 is also plugging right along. I suspect I'll still be using the 1000 and 4000 well after the 2 year-old Dishplayer dies an agonizing death. :)
But Dish should get rid of the 700/800 block.

I bought a 6000 when it 1st came out, I really don't miss the local channel map, though I wish it where OpenTv enabled. The EPG issue on the 4000/5000 became too annoying for my taste with info not available on the EPG more than less of the time, pressing info taking a min+, and many times stating info not available when it finally did. At least the 6000 comes right up as soon as I press Guide or Info. I RMA'd the 5000 twice just to see if mine was defective and if not to set the ground work to get it replaced with a newer gen receiver.
I gave up CID with the trade out, but I am a much happier camper today. If you have more than 1 receiver in your house with the 2nd being next gen, I believe you to would become annoyed at the 1st gens performance.
