View Full Version : Anyway to delete Showcase items?
Anybody know of a way to delete Showcase items - what does the expiration date do - do they self destruct on that date?
Thanks...

Yes, they self destruct at expiration or if replaced by DIRECTV command. Besides that or a complete reformat, there is no way for us to delete them.
That said, they are stored in reserved space so don't take any space you would be able to use anyway.

I have the NFL week 1 highlights and it does not list an expiration date like all the other showcases. Since it first downloaded, the week 2 and 3 highlights came and went as they had an expiration date. Week 4 is currently listed but it too has an expiration date. Will week 1 ever be deleted? Seems to have been a goof on D* part. I wonder if they're even aware? Or maybe they haven't figured out a way to fix it?
I assume this is true for everyone else's showcases?

I've never even looked at my Showcases since maybe the first week they had it, Nascar or something as I recall. Never even think of it.

Showcases should not interfere with watching or recording. They are supposed to remain behind the scenes.
Are you getting a "Tuner Conflict" screen all the time when you're recording one thing and trying to watch another show? Perhaps the receiver no longer thinks it has two tuners? Or are both satellite cables hooked up?

I still have all 5 weeks of NFL ST highlights. Don't see any expiration dates listed anywhere. Navigating the list is extremely slow and laggy as well.

I've had some success with using the - button (to the left of the zero) twice.
It took out the NASCAR and NFL highlights.
YMMV

They are all listed with an exclamation mark within a triangle. I also have an NFL Blitz Week #2 that was recorded on 9/20.
And my list if very sluggish as well.
I also have the DOD welcome video that says it expired on 9/9, but yet it's still there.
Showcases are screwy.

Doesn't work on mine....

Well I now have 7 weeks of expired NFL ST crap.
A guide Category Sort of Sports > Football now renders 18 pages of this crap before actually getting to something I really am looking for.
Showcase navigation is now akin to watching paint dry.
Oh and obviously nobody with power to do anything about it gives a flip.

You can delete them if they are in a folder, by pushing the "-" key twice, on the bottom left. But once you delete it, it will come back, your HR20 will record it once again. Showcase doesn't take your available disk space, it's recorded on a different part of the disk.
I now it's annoying, but there is nothing you can do :nono2:
If you have nothing in your My Playlist, I bet you could do a Menu>Help&Settings>Setup>Reset>ResetEverything to clear them out...

I would simply suggest if they bother you, that you not look at that tab. Deleting them will not net you any usable space.

I agree with you in theory, but this latest one we got - some sort of MINIVAN advertising just takes the cake. No amount of double -- would get rid of any of them before so I did not bother to try, but WTH is it with advertising cars?????? I don't care about nor am the least be interested in some stupid minivan commercial.

These types of showcases are not new, they were always on the DirecTivo's as well for years.
Just don't go into Showcases if you don't want to see them.

+1, and you were never able to delete THEM either...
I am wondernig, if that area is allocated specifically for automatically recorded content, is it a physical and separate partition on the disk? IE, will re-formatting erase the Showcases too, or only the area accessible for recording by the user?

Reformatting kills the showcases, but they do come back.
