I DON"T THINK MOST D* employees even know D10 has successfully been activated. Really sad.

Can you impagine when NBA/NCAA fans are exposed to this goofiness?

Come on D - Grow up.

Why are you mad at Digital TeleVision?

;)

Just call D** and ask them why. It may be a simple throwing of a switch or at least an explanation.

I bet if you took a poll of any of the D* employee's including installers, even the ones that are contracted. I bet the 80% of have no idea what the heck is going on.

It's always frustrates me when I call tech support for anything and I know more about the product or services than the employee of the company.

That's the way it is these days though, all you can do is be nice and have a good attitude.

Dish Network is broadcasting the game in HD without DirecTV's blackout restrictions:

10/6/07 CH 9549 7:00 PM Carolina vs Washington (WSH)

So I get you too are really, really frustrated and venting. Two zingers in one thread, just a few posts apart? Wow.

I can tell you that DIRECTV does care, a LOT. They are working very hard on improving the customer experience on every level.

Sadly, the changes are apparently not yet affecting your experience yet, hopefully soon.

As to the OP issue, I hope it is simple growing pains of all the new channels making the blackout rules a bit more complex. May these all get ironed out very quickly.

Cheers,
Tom

Please, everyone, patience. They want to know when something isn't working, so they can get it right. These channels have been up for less than two weeks.

Is it just me or does it seem like the Hockey fans around here all have short fuses (ie. No Patience).

I mean we are just 2 weeks into the initial HD launch and people are PO'd that D* isn't already offering every game in HD for NHLCI.

But for the sake of these forums give it a while and save us from all these threads about how D* sucks. Also, and this is just my personal feelings, I don't want to hear about all the threats of people leaving D*. If you want to threaten to leave D* based off of the current situation then I guess E* deserves you.

People pay a lot for their D* service, PLUS a lot more money for their premium sports channels. They have a right to complain when they screw something up that makes them NOT able to watch the game they wanted to watch, and that they paid for.

Spare the lectures, please. People get upset both because they feel they aren't getting what they paid for and they receive clearly canned responses with out-of-date information from DirecTV.

Do a few people go overboard? Sure. Do I think DirecTV "sucks?" Not at all, and I believe they'll get all the CI issues worked out.

But hockey fans have plenty of reasons so far this season to be a bit upset.

For the first time, a college game was blacked out in my area. Penn State/Iowa was on ESPN2 (HD) and it was blacked out in favor of ABC affiliate WNEP, in the SD version. Is there no recourse when the local HD channels are not available through directv? This seems to be a poor policy.

No. The Caps were an expansion team in 1973 or 1974. I think the Seals Moved to Cleveland in th.e 70's and merged with Minnesota in the late 80's or early 90's. That's when San Jose came into the league

Why somebody always gotta' do that?

OK, glad I'm not watching football right now, I have enough silly meetings in my day. Too bad basektball isn't here yet, I can't wait to watch a giant drop a ball into a hoop 50 freaking times in a game! Baseball is still going on, right? Either that or the grass is still growing, can't decide which has more action.

There, OK. Don't start with us hockey fans!

Yes. the Gunds, owners of the Seals, and then "merged" partners with owners of the North Stars, tried to bring the Stars back to the Bay Area, with no success. But a deal struck by the Gunds' with former Hartford Whalers owners created the ownership basis for what is now the Sharks.

Connection: My father was the Seals first PR guy, and the GM at that time? Bill Torrey ;)

Not a big hockey fan, or a lot of other sports but I do watch a game or two once in a while.. I have always found the blackout rules to be the single dumbest marketing idea ever.. Your stadium isn't full so you tick off every fan that might buy a ticket later by not letting them watch the rest of the season too.. Bright idea guys..

p.s. back to nascar ;)

You should be happy you're not in Chicago. The blackhawks don't show home games b/c they figure people won't come to see them live. Sr Wirtz just passed away so maybe this policy will change.

I understand, and I don't think I lack humor. Others may disagree :)

It's just that hockey fans (like soccer fans) hear the same crap over and over...and it does get a bit old after awhile -- what humor might be contained in the first hearing/reading loses its charm the thousandth time.

And tossing it out in the middle of a thread filled with upset hockey fans is probably unlikely to result in it being warmly received.

But really, no harm, no foul.
