721 reboot question.

I am currently rebooting my receiver once every day (power button method). With the 1.07 release is this necessary anymore? Can I just reboot it occasionally now? Opinions?

You should not have had to reboot it everyday before this release. They recomment NOT rebooting by taking smart card out and then back in again. Are you doing the reboot by pressing the power button down while the receiver is on for about 5 or 6 seconds?

Yeah the power button reboot is what I was doing.

Well, that's great and important info. It's frustrating that I never knew this. Quite an about-face, too, as tech support always recommended the smart-card pull for the 501.

The new L1.07 is supposed to be much more stable, there should be no need to reboot every few days. Try going a few days with L1.07 and see if things are indeed better on your 721. :)

If you have to keep rebooting after this new 1.07 release I would call Advanced Tech Support. I would try to get a replacement. Could be a bad sign of future receiver/hard drive failure.
