Recorded HD DD shows play back as HD 5 Channel Stereo.

Why? Comments welcomed.

Are you asking why it shows as 5 channel stereo or why it doesn't show as 5.1 stereo? Where is this being displayed (ie. your audio receiver or your TV or what)?

Make sure you have DD turned on in the HR20 setup menu. Make sure you have an optical cable running from your HR20 to your av receiver. Make sure your av receiver is setup on that optical input to auto.

I'm using HDMI from HR20 to Denon AVR 987 and HDMI from AVR to Sony HDTV. My AVR is setup for HDMI.
