I am a new customer and I was more than a little apprehensive about my install after reading these forums. I was armed with great info and felt that I knew what I was getting into. CSRs lied to me when they said I was getting a SWM but I can live with that for now.
I live in a 3 story townhome and the guys had easy access to the roof from my roofdeck. They used the monopoles and ground everything. I am pleased that the dish is out of view both from the street and from my roofdeck.
They used my existing RG-6 runs and did one new cable drop in my guest bedroom. The guys worked for JP&D and were very professional and polite. They did a good, professional job and set up the Zinwell 6x8 and wiring in the attic very nicely.
Signal strength for all sats are in the high 90s. Not everything was smooth but that wasn't the fault of the installers. One of the HR-20s was wonky and they had to come back after finishing the job after me. I did not get all HDs or DVR service and had to call several times to get everything working. The activation process is a joke and I feel bad for the installers for all the time they have to waste to get the receivers active after finishing the real work.
Anyway, thanks for everyone's advice and tips. This site has been invaluable to me. I am getting a guy to come over next week to run extra coax and cat-5e cable to all the HD-DVRs so I can have dual tuner capability and DoD and mediashare capabilities. I am also going to get an OTA antenna. What antenna do y'all recommend? Should we run extra coax for OTA or diplex?
The PQ is superb. Much better than what I was getting from Comcast. The SDs and especially HD channels are noticeably better.
