Hello to all,

I currently have a standard 311 receiver. I have two dishes, one pointing at 148 and a Dish Pro Plus Dish pointing to 110 and 119. The 148 dish is connected to the Dish Pro Plus Dish, and only one RG6 coax goes from the Dish Pro Plus to the receiver.

I have done the online chat thing with Dish Net technicians/sales/etc. with different responses for the same question. If I get a DVR 625 receiver, do I need another line of coax from the Dish Pro Plus Dish to the receiver to get the dual tuner capabilities? Could a splitter be used? How much does it cost to upgrade? I do not want the 311 anymore, just the 625. Do they do exchanges? I understand there is a 5.98 DVR fee, is there any other charges?

Thanks for any and all help guys!

:welcome_s to DBSTalk!

The dish is just a dish, and can be used with many LNB configurations. Yours has a DPP Twin, so you will not need another line to replace the 311 with a 625 (you would if you were adding a receiver of any type). You may NOT use a splitter to hook up multiple tuners. The dual-tuner boxes ship with a DPP Separator which looks like a splitter but is really a diplexer that works on the regular DBS and DishPro stacked frequencies. (The more common diplexer separates the OTA and DBS bands.)

For upgrade costs, log in to your acct at dishnetwork.com and navigate to Dish'n It Up. It may be a no-cost or $49 exchange. I'm fuzzy on the details and it varies by customer anyway.

The DVR fee can be reduced by signing up for DVR Advantage. Dual-output receivers must be connected to a phone line or there will be a $5 Program Access Fee added.
