I may be able to get a hold of either an DISH network or DirecTV receiver from a relative/friend and was wondering something about it. Can I pay to receive just a sports package from either? Specifically the NHL Center Ice Package. Or is a minimum standard programming package required?

I am not sure about Dish but with DirecTV you have to at least have a standard programming package.

Dish offers many of its channels without a minimum package, but requires a $6/month access charge if that's what you do.

Having said that, I'm not sure whether Dish would require you to be eligible for your local regional sports network (AT100+) to get Center Ice. Maybe you should give Dish a call to find out. :)
