Earlier today I posted to the "NEW L107 Bugs" thread thinking the hiccups being displayed while watching recorded programs was software related.
Then the hard drive started making clunking noises like you hear when driving down the freeway. It would not respond to the remote control. I held the power button on the front of the unit until it shutdown. I waited about five seconds and then hit the power button again. The screen finally came on and reported a hard drive problem. As I collected all my stuff to call Dish support the screen cleared the hard drive error message. I figured that support would ask me to reboot so I pulled the power plug for fifteen seconds and then watched it reboot. It then proceeded to initialize the hard drive and reinstall the software. While it does this the three lights on the front flash in succession from left to right just like the old Thunderbird taillights.:) Anyway it finished doing the installation and then came up. It appears to still have L1.07 but my entire collection PVR recordings and all the timing events are of course gone.
Think I should call dish to get the hard drive swapped? It seems to be working fine but I would hate to lose more recordings because there is some hardware problem.
Thanks,
