Trio has been advertising heavily in the Philly market. Ads on bus(es), billboards, bus stops, even a moving mini truck whose purpose to go around the city showing the ad.

They want us to contact the local cable company (not mentioned, but its primarily Comcast they are targeting at) and ask the channel to be added. They dont mention available on DirecTV. They have a 1-877-GET-TRIO number listed.

Is this the same elsewhere or particular in Denver? Charlie Ergen must not have seen them.

According to the Charlie Chat, Trio was mentioned as a Canadian service. He might not be aware what Trio is today. Concerts (supposedly Trio will have exclusive concerts), original programming and Dave Letterman reruns.

Dish Network still lacks this channel. My Comcast will be raising rates next month, but the idiots at Comcast are deciding this year not to offer ANY new channel. Maybe its due to TNT, and other channels asking for more money. But even if TNT wants $.05/mo more this year, its no reason for Comcast to pass on to us an additional $2.50/mo.

Before with every rate increase, they'd atleast give us 3 or so channels, last year they gave TCM. This year probably nothing. Since I have Comcast now (no longer a sat sub), the channels I want Comcast to add are actually ones DirecTV has. Trio and a fulltime Hallmark Channel would be the ones I want. Trio wants cable to carry it.

Brett,

This past Saturday, Trio bought 90 minutes of time starting at 1:30 PM on Fox 29 Philly for a special. We put it on Tivo - very interesting.

Wow, I hope all the ad time they are buying eventually gets them a spot on the cable lineup.

Comcast added History International and Biography to digital (expect it probably on other Comcast lineups if you have Comcast), but those 2 networks didnt advertise locally. They only advertised on their main networks History and A&E. Comcast added National Geographic also as per FOX's request. I suspect Hearst will eventually make Comcast carry Lifetime Movie Network as Hearst required DirecTV and Dish to carry it. Comcast though has more leverage over DirecTV and Dish and its very difficult now for a cable network or broadcaster to get a favorable deal with Comcast.

They still lack DIY, Hallmark (fulltime) although Hallmark may want parttime analog coverage over full time digital coverage. I wonder if Trio is asking for basic analog coverage or is fine with digital. The cable company would rather add it to digital as there is more space there and its incentive to people to upgrade to more programming. I prefer DirecTV, but Comcast comes cheaper still for the basic service (since I have cable internet wired) and Comcast bundles the two or charges more, plus they include CCSN.
